2020 Election results will be announced 24 hours after voting closes

Dr Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission has said the commission is putting plans in place to ensure that results of the 2020 December polls are released 24 hours after voting closes.

According to him, just like the 2016 elections, the manual transmission will be used in this year’s election.
Results will be submitted to the constituency, the constituency will send their results to the region and the region will fax the results to us,” he explained.

The EC Director said the Commission is hopeful constituencies will work within the planned timelines to enable this target to be met.

According to Dr. Serebour, the commission has introduced regional collation for the 2020 elections which is captured in the CI 127

This means that, instead of the head office doing collation of 275 results, they would only do 16 results representing each region.
